This is nice-
We met in the summer and we got to see each other all the time. But because of the distance and roads beings bad, we didnt get to see each other as much in the winter. Then the summer would come back around, and we couldnt wait. the freedom was the. She is my summer lover of every season.

hm. this song is soo meaningful to me. im 16. and in march, my first love ended. my bf of 5 months broke up with me the day before our anniversary. and the christmas before he burned me a CD with this song on it. i relly liked the sound of it.. but never really payed attention to the lyrics. well, i lost the CD for a longg time. like.. 5 months. and during that 5 months was when he broke up with me. well, the other day i found the CD. and i was like. OH yeah! i remember this. well i put it in. and was kinda sad remembering how hea had made this for me. and how bad i miss him. . . . yeah. then this song started playing. and i listened to the words for the first time. and. it made me really sad. i mean. wow. all norah's lyrics are so touching. its good if they make you cry. or feel emotion. but yeah. im still not over him. because every time i hear this song i cry. and he dosent talk to me anymore. first love is usually a heartbreak. mine was.

I´ve never thougth this song will be my favorite one!! It is sad when you take a look to the past and you realized that there is no turning back! Although in my country, Costa Rica, it doesn´t snow (there is only two seasons)... to me, this song is the best... I really hope Norah comes soon to my country!!!

I discovered Norah Jones a month ago maybe more... but oh my god, this song is marvellous !!! It reminds me of a man i'm always in love with... it's so... sad and beautiful in the same time...

I can totally relate to this song, maybe not just a summer love, but i was with him for a year and a half , and recently he ended it, just listening to this song makes me think of him and all of our good times.
People say that it isn't love at such an early age, just a crush, an infatuation, but i can tell you, it was love, unfortunately now its just a one way thing, we are still good friends but he will never know how much i miss him, and love him.
I agree with you cat woman, i think that your interpretation of this song is exactly how it is meant to be portrayed with Norah's beautiful lyrics and graceful voice.

alright, when i hear this song i hear a really nice love song but when i sit down and read the lyrics i see a sad little message. basically, the girl in perspective of the song is singing about her true love, most likley her first (because i believe you can have more than 1) anyway, this guy and her happened to stumble upon each other and fell in love over the summer:

this whole verse i think is saying that this boy is the one she lost her virginity with, using the ole "deflowering" metaphor with that whole picking flowers line. and you can pretty much tell with the rest of the lyrics that once summer was over, he dumped her and found a new girl.

this music is enlightening. I have found that if you sit in a slightly lighted room just enough to create a warm glow and recline back in your favorite chair listening to this song with just the speaker on the right turned on this song opens up a new place in your mind!

In response to what happened to the spring, I felt like she mentioned it without saying the word "spring." I think when she talks about the flowers she plucked that was a reference to spring because that is when flowers bloom. Just a thought. :)

This song reminds me of a relationship I had over the summer. I met this guy at a leadership conference that I attended, and we started talking online. That's the only way we communicated because I live in Pennsylvania, and he in Oklahoma, but our conversations got really, well, deep. But then he went away for a couple months, and when he got back he informed me that he is engaged. He totally broke my heart, and he told me that he will "look back on our season as friends with fondness" So this verse
